"Human genome cloning is becoming a commonplace Inner Beauty cloning is a multimedia installation that deals with several contemporary issues trough genetics or more specifically trough therapeutic cloning for mainly aesthetic purposes. It shows how science can not only affect the current stream of socio dynamics, but also it can respond to and affect and relate to how we live in a world where imaging and security can correspond to the human desire of beautification. "Inner Beauty presents the company Belvedere Cloning Corporation that has the sole rights to "Inner Beauty" cloning. The company will grow any organs from the clients/patients cell and with the help of its artist in residence make minor aesthetic alterations that will result in a more beautiful organ. The installation "Inner Beauty" consists of four major components. One will be the company's web site, www.bcc-x.com where people are able to learn about its products, register and sign up for future "Inner Beauty" cloning. The second is a single channel video set in the lavishly furnished consultation room of the Belvedere Cloning Corporation. The representatives of the company, interviewing potential clients who are interested in the company's cloning services. The third will be a painting commissioned by the Belvedere Cloning Corporation, featuring the exterior representation of the aesthetics that the company proudly presents. The last are the cell like sculptures featuring the colors and the physical aspect of an extreme representation of an "Inner Beauty" cell. Concern for security and safety is rapidly growing, digital imaging and profiling is becoming part of our daily routine. The introduction of full-scale body scanning as a public safety measure and the adopted technology in clubs and in other venues will affect our aesthetic expectations not only for the objects surrounding us but also for the exterior and interior of our techno-human hybrid body. It is at this time that the BCC (Belvedere Cloning Corporation) emerges with a new product offering that concentrates not on external beauty but internal. The BCC will manufacture genetically-modified replications of one's organs-their liver, heart, or kidneys, for example, that have been altered to be more 'visually and aesthetically desirable.' Their goal: to aid clients in becoming beautiful on the inside rather than the outside, thus make literal the phrase 'inner beauty.' The recent procedure of a bladder transplant by Dr. Anthony Atala showed us that growing an organ from a patient's cell could be the solution to many problems organ transplant patients had to deal with. In the case of the bladder transplant was first grown in a Petri dish and than it was layered onto a three-dimensional mold shaped like a bladder. Following this process in theory the shape of the mash could be slightly different, but the Belvedere Cloning Corporation takes this idea a step further by making the minor aesthetic alteration already in the cell. Because the bladders are grown from a patient's own cells, there is no risk of the rejection of the transplant, as in a traditional transplant.
