REFLECTION OR REVELATION

My father asked me to paint a self-portrait for him; this process has led to the recent works I have been working on. It is difficult to work on self-portraits when it is not my priority interest. There are internal obligations, like my father measuring progress by self-portraits. This investigation into my own development has led to a more complex and pluralistic approach; of many instead of the one, and the meaning of repetition.

I see myself but it cannot be or at least I cannot be sure, it is the way others see me. The viewer in the common sense and than the viewer of the image has to be able to give his or her point of view. The person who does not know me or the person who had some or more relation with me and with my image. The mirror has to be democratic in a sense that anybody should have the opportunity to create a whole image of me, even if it's based upon my interpretation.
